In case you’re unfamiliar with the term, Manhwas are the Korean equivalent of Manga from South Korea. Unlike Japanese manga, manhwas are usually colored and exclusively available online.
Among the various genres, the action genre is certainly one of the most popular. So much so that translation teams are picking up a bunch of new action/fantasy manhwas every day.
So, in this post, we’ll be listing 16 amazing action manhwa and also where to read them.
Best Action Manhwa
15. FFF-Class Trashero
The protagonist, Kin Han Soo, is sent back to Earth after successfully killing the demon king in the fantasy world. However, upon his return, the god of the fantasy world appears with Han Soo’s report card. It is revealed that Han Soo’s personality score is an F, due to him removing all obstacles in his way to kill the demon king. As a result, he is sent back to the beginning of the fantasy world and must start again.
The mc is not your typical isekai protagonist, he’s comedically ruthless, the plot is fun & the art style is amazing. Overall it’s an enjoyable manhwa and the mc pretty much breaks every isekai rule in the book. Definitely recommend reading it.
FFF-Class Trashero is available to read for free on BiliBili Comics.
14. The Return of the Frozen Player
The world faced a catastrophe 5 years ago when monsters that humanity couldn’t handle appeared. The Frost Queen, a logic-defying boss monster who froze the pacific ocean with a single wave of her hand made everyone despair.
But humanity’s 5 greatest heroes (Top Players) including Seo “Specter” Jun-ho, finally defeated the Frost Queen…
But after the frost queen fell, the 5 of them froze. But, 25 years later, Specter suddenly broke free from the ice, and now “there’s a second floor?!”
Unlike many other dungeon novels that skip all the interesting stuff on the mc’s journey to kill God or whatever, The Return of the Frozen Player takes its time to build a world, powers, and characters.
Its premise is pretty generic and I wish they gave the side characters a bit more attention but overall it’s an enjoyable read and I’d recommend checking it out.
The Return of the Frozen Player is available to read for free on Reaper Scans.
13. God of Blackfield
‘Kang Chan,’ the French Foreign Legion legend! During the African war, his enemies referred to him as the “God of Blackfield,” the “God of the Black Land,” and were terrified but also, in awe of him. However, Kang Chan was killed in action by an unknown bullet shot from behind him while on a mission to kill Masallan, the brain behind SISS, the group of Sunni supporters. As his vision blurred, he saw his thirteen team members, all of whom had complete faith in him, being killed one by one. Kang Chan was about to die after being shot by a traitor when he was saved by an unknown power and awoke three years later in South Korea.
However, he was in the body of another ‘Kang Chan’, a 19-year-old high school boy who was being bullied at school. Kang Chan’s journey to get revenge on the traitor and to find out the truth behind his rebirth begins now!
God of Blackfield in my humble opinion is one of the best manhwas I have read, I’m not really a big fan of anything outside of the fantasy genre but I really enjoyed reading this one. You should definitely check it out.
God of Blackfield is available to read for free on Reaper Scans.
12. Nano Machine
Cheon Yeo-Woon, an orphan from the Demonic Cult, receives an unexpected visit from his descendant from the future, who inserts a “nano machine” into Cheon Yeo-Woon’s body, which drastically changes Cheon Yeo-Woon’s life after it is activated. The story of Cheon Yeo-Woon’s journey to becoming the best martial artist and avoiding the Demonic Cult has just begun.
Nano Machine has a badass mc that doesn’t take shit from others, and shows no mercy to his enemies but he’s kind to his subordinates. The art style and fight scenes are amazing as well.
Nano Machine is available to read for free on Reaper Scans.
11. Mercenary Enrollment
Yu Ijin, our mc, was the sole survivor of a plane crash when he was little. After becoming a mercenary to survive for 10 years, he finally returns to his family in his hometown.
The story is pretty unique, unlike all the leveling systems, swords & magic, and constellations in all the other manhwas that are currently out. The MC is still overpowered without all that, and the art is quite good. It’s kind of similar to The God of Blackfield. Overall Mercenary Enrollment is an enjoyable read, would definitely recommend reading it.
Mercenary Enrollment is available to read for free on Reaper Scans.
10. Lookism
Daniel is an unattractive loner who got bullied and abused on a daily basis but suddenly, he wakes up in a different body. Now tall, handsome, and cooler than ever in his new form, Daniel aims to achieve everything he couldn’t before. How far will he go to keep his body… and his secrets?
Lookism is really good but it’s pretty dragged, there’s plenty of filler here and there but it’s still really good. Also, Netflix recently announced an anime adaptation. So, be on the lookout for that as well.
Lookism is available to read for free on Webtoons.com
9. Survival Story of a Sword King in a Fantasy World
Ryu Han-Bin was a regular person who had just completed his mandatory military service when he was transported to another world. He was left to fend for himself in a desolate world filled with monsters, with the goal of surviving and growing stronger. The problem is that the ‘Guideline,’ which was supposed to be his survival guide, is riddled with errors.
If you want an isekai with a good plot, comedy, and good fight scenes then I’d definitely recommend reading Survival Story of a Sword King in a Fantasy World.
The plot is amazing, the art is amazing, the characters are amazing, and overall this manhwa is really freaking amazing.
Survival Story of a Sword King in a Fantasy World is available to read for free on Luminous Scans.
8. A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special
The Shadow Labyrinth is the most disastrous existence humanity has ever faced. Desir Arman is one of the six remaining human survivors within it. The six make an attempt to clear the final level of the labyrinth but fail, and the world ends.
However, just as Desir thought he was going to die, the world is revealed before him… thirteen years ago?! Desir is transported back in time to the time when he enrolled at Havrion, the nation’s finest magic academy. He has been reunited with his beloved friends and is ready to change history in order to save the world and his loved ones…!
There are only three years until the Shadow World appears! Will Desir be able to gather powerful comrades and save the world?
The fights in this manhwa get cooler with each arc and the art is pretty good. Also, the story is very interesting and the “dungeons” of this work are very different from other manhwas.
A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special is available to read for free on TappyToon
7. Eleceed
Jiwoo is a kind-hearted young man who secretly uses a cat’s lightning-quick reflexes to make the world a better place, one saved little child or foster pet at a time. Kayden is a fugitive secret agent trapped in the body of a…um…decidedly fat old fluffy cat. Armed with Jiwoo’s superpowers and Kayden’s superintelligence, they set out to combat the forces that would allow evil to rule the world. That is if they can put up with each other long enough to finish the job.
The plot is amazing, the characters feel organic and the art style is really cool too. Just read it! You won’t be disappointed.
Eleceed is available to read for free on Webtoons.com
6. Damn Reincarnation
Hamel is a warrior who traveled with his colleagues to exterminate the demon kings. Unfortunately, he died just before the battle with the most powerful of the demon kings started. But after dying, he was reborn as the descendant of his fellow colleague, the hero Vermouth. The descendant from the bloodline of the great Vermouth, Hamel. No, he was now Eugene Lionhart. From a dying body to a new body, he has the achievement that he did not have in his previous life. And, a reincarnation out of nowhere, the reality of living together with the demons. Facing a new world where everything is questionable. His unfinished journey from his previous life begins again in Eugene’s body.
The mc is likable, the characters are amazing, and although the plot may resemble some typical reincarnation and demon vs hero scenarios, the storytelling is awesome. I am enjoying it so far.
Damn Reincarnation is available to read for free on Asura Scans.
5. Academy’s Undercover Professor
He wasn’t reborn with talent or ability, but at least his knowledge from the earth allowed him to stay one step ahead in this other world. Magic exists here, and new progress was rapidly being made in science while magic stagnated in the name of tradition. Using his earthly knowledge and not bound by traditional thinking, he was able to do things other wizards couldn’t even imagine. Still, becoming an undercover professor (accidentally) for a mysterious secret society (accidentally) at the renowned Sören academy was never on his to-do list!
This manhwa is pretty solid, it’s about a dude who gets reincarnated to another world. He has gained global notoriety under many aliases—from Gerrard to Machiavelli. His newest identity is that of Ludger Cherish, a young and talented professor at the prestigious Soren Academy. However, what seems like an easy teaching job turns out to be anything but that.
This manhwa has action, and comedy, and the art is really awesome. There’s no sign of a romantic interest as of yet but I don’t know if it’d be the same later on. Highly recommend reading it.
Academy’s Undercover Professor is available to read for free on Reaper Scans.
4. Solo Leveling
At number 4 we have Solo Leveling, there is no way you’ve not at least heard about it if you’ve not read it unless you live under a rock or something.
The story is about a young man named Sung Jin-Woo who is a weak E-rank hunter. But, everything changes after he overcomes a deadly situation in a mysterious dungeon. He gets a ‘System’ that helps him ‘Level Up’ after completing quests given to him by the system. So, this story at its core is about a weak dude who becomes the only person in his world who can keep getting stronger without a limit.
An anime adaptation has also been announced for Solo Leveling and it’s supposed to start airing in 2023.
Solo Leveling is available to buy on Amazon. It is also available to read for free on Asura Scans.
3. The Beginning After The End
In a world ruled by martial prowess, King Grey possesses unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige. However, solitude follows those in positions of great power. The shell of man, devoid of purpose and will, lurks beneath the glamorous exterior of a powerful king. The king has been reincarnated into a new world filled with magic and monsters, giving him a second chance at life.
However, correcting his past mistakes will not be his only challenge. Underneath the new world’s peace and prosperity is an undercurrent threatening to destroy everything he has worked for, calling into question his role and reason for being born again.
This manhwa was inspired by Mushoku Tensei, I know what you’re thinking and no, this doesn’t have any of the weird stuff. The beginning is kind of similar to Mushoku Tensei (without the weird stuff of course) but later it’s completely different.
The world-building, characters, art everything is top-tier and the main character is an absolute badass. Be sure to read this one, it’s freaking incredible.
The Beginning After The End is available to buy on Amazon. You can also read it for free up until chapter 25 on Tapas.
2. SSS-Class Suicide Hunter
Kim Gong-ja lives a mundane life in the mysterious, RPG dungeon-like Tower, envying all the star hunters. One day, his wish for more is granted with a legendary ability to imitate the abilities of others… at the cost of his life.
Before he can make sense of it, he is killed by the Flame Emperor, the top hunter! However, this activates his skill, and he has now copied a new one, the ability to travel back in time upon death. How will Kim Gong-ja use these abilities to outwit his opponents and rise to the top?
SSS-Class Suicide Hunter is a great power fantasy/dungeon-based manhwa with a unique story to distinguish itself from other manhwas in this category.
The story is fantastic, and our MC’s power is unlike anything I’ve seen before. With the various quests and environments created in the tower, the lore is absolutely incredible.
The art is incredible, with each background, scenario, environment, and character being uniquely designed. The side characters have equally really memorable cool designs.
All of the characters are well-written, with distinct goals and objectives. I like the murim-based floor and the two characters who live there. (This is the most I can say without spoiling anything.) But as a novel reader, I’ll tell you something, the next arc is gonna be freaking amazing!
Overall it’s really fun to read and It is also one of my favorite manhwas of all time, so I highly recommend reading this one.
SSS-Class Suicide Hunter is available to read for free on Reaper Scans.
1. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
Dokja was an average office worker whose sole interest was reading his favorite web novel ‘Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse.’ But when the novel suddenly becomes reality, he is the only person who knows how the world will end. Armed with this realization, Dokja uses his understanding to change the course of the story, and the world, as he knows it.
I’ve seen people online worship Solo Leveling like crazy, and I know it’s good I like it too. But, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is so much better in my humble opinion.
The plot is interesting and only gains depth with all the world-building that occurs and the characters man, they are all so freaking awesome! It is one of my favorite manhwa/webtoons of all time and I highly recommend reading it.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is available to read for free on Flame Scans.
BONUS: Kill the Hero
One day, the world transformed into a game. ‘Dungeons’ and ‘monsters’ emerged in the middle of cities, and ‘players’ who had received the gods’ authority appeared.
Se-jun Lee, the guild master of the Messiah Guild would bring salvation to the world. “Let us save the world together. Let’s put an end to this nightmare.”
The whole world celebrated the hero’s appearance, And I became his comrade. But… He wasn’t a hero nor a messiah-like a world was hailing him. He was a deceitful hero with a secret ambition to rule the world. “You did well. If it weren’t for you, I couldn’t have come up till here.”
I lost my life at his blade in the last dungeon. …or so I thought. The announcement I heard next to my ear the moment I died. [Starting the game.]
I returned to the past, back when I still hadn’t awakened as a player. And this time, It’s my turn…… To ‘hunt’ him.
Kill the Hero is available to read for free on Reaper Scans.
