For the longest time, action series have been a gateway into anime, piquing the interest of new fans with thrilling confrontations and big, blow-out battles. Long-time fan favorites like One Piece, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, and relatively new anime like Attack on Titan, Black Clover, Demon Slayer, or the highly anticipated anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man are undeniable proof of the genre’s popularity. So, here are some of the best action anime with amazing fights, that I think you’ll enjoy watching.
15. Mob Psycho 100
Kageyama Shigeo (better known as Mob), a schoolboy with psychic abilities, tries to balance school and his job as an exorcist. However, his emotions become increasingly volatile as opposing groups of spirits, psychics, and con-artists attempt to deceive him.
However, the psychic energy he shows is only the tip of the iceberg; if his vast potential and unrestrained emotions go berserk, a cataclysmic event will occur that will render him completely unrecognizable. Attempting to halt the progression toward the Mob’s explosion is futile.
The fight scenes here are well done, there are some great fights here and there and there are even ones that’ll make you laugh. Overall it’s a really good action anime. Some of you might not like the art style but believe me, it’ll grow on you, so go ahead and watch it.
14. Dororo
A mysterious warrior with prosthetic limbs and a young orphan thief fight demons who threaten humanity across Japan.
The animation is smooth, and there are some great sword-fighting scenes as well as some philosophizing about living a life of violence versus peace. The world is immersive and deep, and even though the main character can’t speak, it’s incredible how much you can feel for him and everything he’s going through. The demons themselves are very creative and make for great fights, and there’s a constant sense of mystery in the air that keeps every episode fresh and it has good pacing too.
If you’re looking for some good old samurai anime with amazing fights and demons and whatnot then I’d highly recommend watching this.
13. Kill la Kill
Honnouji Academy is ruled by student council president Satsuki Kiryuin and her underlings, dubbed the Elite Four. They have complete control of the school thanks to their special outfits, known as Goku Uniforms, which grant them superhuman abilities. When transfer student Ryuko Matoi arrives in Hannouji in search of her father’s killer, she challenges the Elite Four to a battle that quickly consumes the school. When Satsuki recognizes Ryuko’s scissor-shaped sword, she wonders if their meeting was chance or fate.
From the makers of FLCL, Gurren Lagann, and Panty and Stocking, Kill la Kill is the first television production series under Studio Trigger. It takes all of anime’s worn-out tropes and clichés and amps them up to eleven before delightfully inverting them to create something exciting and new. While Ryuuko’s revenge story is somewhat predictable, it is the execution of the plot points that distinguishes it from its peers. And of course, the fight scenes here are amazing.
12. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures
JoJo begins rocky before evolving into something truly special, constantly balancing absurdity and seriousness.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a fan favorite, a classic among classics, a series that has been running since the 1980s and continues to reinvent itself with unparalleled creativity. It’s nearly impossible to summarise the events of the Joestars, which now span over multiple decades, families, and even timelines. This animated adaptation has already seen them go on many… bizarre adventures, from vampire slaying to protecting a small town. Each season has its own appeal, but as the settings, abilities, and tones change, two things remain constant: Hirohiko Araki’s unforgettable poses and the fact that fights in JoJo quickly become a strategy game in which everyone tries to be 10 steps ahead of whoever they’re up against.
This is one of the more popular anime out there, the art style takes a little getting used to, and you might become a little gayer after watching this but overall, it is a really good action anime with good fights and plot.
11. Gurren Lagann
Gurren Lagann takes place in a world where humanity is forced to live in underground colonies; in fact, society is unaware that the surface is the domain of the terrifying Spiral King and his robot-piloting crew of monsters. It is a perfectly executed hybrid of comedy and high-intensity action, making it instantly addictive from the first episode.
Gurren Lagann is a fan favorite and you should definitely watch it if you like mecha anime packed with action.
10. The Fate Series
The fate series in general has some really amazing fight scenes but If you want to watch a Holy Grail War—a fight to the death between mages and their summoned legendary heroes—with some actual adults in the room, Fate/Zero is where it’s at. Fate/Zero, firmly in the “not for children” category, spares no bloodshed or depictions of dark people manipulating others for personal gain. It’s tense and unforgiving, and there’s also some freaky bug magic to make your skin crawl.
9. Hunter x Hunter
The story revolves around a young boy named Gon Freecs, who dreams to become an amazing hunter and find his father who left him when he was a child.
Hunters devote their lives to dangerous tasks such as exploring uncharted territories and tracking down rare items and monsters. Before becoming a Hunter, one must pass the Hunter Examination, a high-risk selection process in which the majority of applicants become disabled or, worse, die.
Hunter x Hunter’s true potential takes time to emerge, but once it does, it has the potential to become one of your favorites.
8. My Hero Academia
The appearance of “quirks,” or newly discovered superpowers, has steadily increased over the years, with 80 percent of humanity possessing abilities ranging from element manipulation to shapeshifting. This renders the rest of the world powerless, and Izuku Midoriya is one such person.
Since he was a child, the aspirant middle schooler has desired to be a hero. Izuku’s unfortunate fate causes him to admire heroes and take notes on them whenever he can. But it appears that his perseverance paid off: Izuku meets the number one hero and his personal idol, All Might. All Might’s quirk is an inherited ability, and he has chosen Izuku to be his successor!
Izuku enrolls in UA High, a prestigious high school known for its excellent hero training program, after months of arduous training, and this year’s freshmen look especially promising. With his strange but talented classmates and the looming threat of a villainous organization, Izuku will quickly discover what it truly means to be a hero.
7. Attack on Titan
When man-eating Titans first appeared 100 years ago, humans sought refuge behind massive walls that halted the giants. However, their long-held safety is jeopardized when a colossal Titan smashes through the barriers, causing a flood of the giants into what had been the humans’ safe zone. During the chaos that ensues, soldier Eren Jaeger witnesses one of the Titans devour his mother, prompting him to vow to kill every Titan. He enlists the assistance of some survivors, and this group is humanity’s last hope of avoiding extinction at the hands of the monsters.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last decade, there’s no way you haven’t heard about Attack on Titan. You’ve probably watched it, your friends have watched it, and probably, even your grandmother has watched it.
6. One Piece
One Piece is Shonen Jump’s most popular manga, and its anime adaptation is pretty well-known around the world. One Piece follows the Straw Hat Pirates on their journey to Laughtale in search of the treasure known as One Piece.
The battles that the characters must go through in order to earn the right to be worthy enough to find the treasure that has eluded all but one man for the past 800+ years are a central part of One Piece. The fights in One Piece are frequently packed with crazy moments, and they frequently go on to become extremely popular around the world. Luffy’s fight against Katakuri is one example.
If you haven’t already watched it, I would recommend that you not start now, unless you’re fine with not watching anything else for the next couple of months because one piece has more than 1000 episodes!
5. One Punch Man
One-Punch Man is exactly as it sounds, with the main character being so powerful that he can defeat anyone with a single punch. His story revolves around receiving credit for the work he’s done as a superhero, as his actions are often overlooked.
While it may appear that there isn’t much competition for the protagonist in this series, this isn’t the case. Many opponents rise to the occasion, and their own unique qualities pave the way for exciting match-ups between distinct characters.
One Punch Man focuses more on the side characters than the main character because if they included Saitama in every crisis there wouldn’t be a story. Overall it’s a really fun anime to watch, the animation is smooth and the fight scenes are awesome.
4. Jujutsu Kaisen
Idly indulging in baseless paranormal activities with the Occult Club, high schooler Yuuji Itadori spends his days in either the clubroom or the hospital, where he visits his bedridden grandfather. However, this leisurely lifestyle soon takes a turn for the strange when he unknowingly encounters a cursed item. Triggering a chain of supernatural occurrences, Yuuji finds himself suddenly thrust into the world of Curses—dreadful beings formed from human malice and negativity—after swallowing the said item, revealed to be a finger belonging to the demon Sukuna Ryoumen, the “King of Curses.”
Yuuji experiences first-hand the threat these Curses pose to society as he discovers his own newfound powers. Introduced to the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School, he begins to walk down a path from which he cannot return—the path of a Jujutsu sorcerer.
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular new gen anime and I’d highly recommend you to watch this if you’re just getting into watching anime.
3. Black Clover
In a world where magic is everything, there lives a boy with no magic, his name is Asta. Yet, he aspires to be the greatest mage in the kingdom, even if he is unable to use magic. Fortunately for Asta, he receives the extremely rare five-leaf clover grimoire, which grants him anti-magic power. He intends to become the Wizard King despite his inability to use magic.
Black Clover is arguably one of the most popular shonen anime or manga of all time, but there’s also a lot of hate surrounding it. But it’s still one of my favorite anime, and I highly recommend you to watch it. It has lovable characters, good pacing, and amazing fight scenes!
2. Demon Slayer
After his family is killed by a demon and the sole survivor, his sister Nezuku is turned into one, Tanjiro embarks on a journey to cure her and avenge those he has lost.
Demon Slayer is one of the most successful action anime in recent years. It provides exciting fights, with each character having their own distinct fighting style. These battles are superbly animated, and the sound effects and music added take them to a whole new level.
1. Naruto
Naruto Uzumaki has but one dream, to become the greatest Hokage. He struggles to find his place in the village, while his burning desire to become the Hokage of Konohagakure leads him not only to some great new friends but also some deadly foes.
Naruto is arguably one of the most popular anime of all time and part of Shonen Jump’s Big 3. It is in fact so popular that every new action anime that comes out gets compared to it by fans of the series.
