Unfortunately for Jouro, both girls profess their love for his best friend Taiyou “Sun-chan” Ooga, the baseball team’s ace. Accepting each of their requests for advice and guidance, he is now in charge of assisting the two girls in winning the same guy’s heart.
Jouro’s friendly and obtuse persona is a ruse designed to cast himself as the clueless protagonist of a typical romantic comedy, unbeknownst to his friends. Under his cheery exterior, he is a schemer who makes the most of this unexpected turn of events by devising a new plan: get Sun-chan to fall for either Cosmos or Himawari and take the other as his prize. However, Jouro’s last-ditch effort is jeopardized by the gloomy, four-eyed Sumireko “Pansy” Sanshokuin, who surprises Jouro not only with her knowledge of his secret personality but also with a confession to the true self he has been hiding for all this time.
Stuck in this hilariously messed-up situation, each of the five students must navigate numerous lies, traps, and misunderstandings in order to emerge victorious.

8. Rent-A-Girlfriend
Kazuya Kinoshita, a 20-year-old college student, has a wonderful girlfriend named Mami Nanami. But he doesn’t anymore. Mami abruptly ends their relationship, leaving him heartbroken and lonely. To alleviate his pain, he hires a rental girlfriend through an online app. Chizuru Mizuhara, his partner, wins Kazuya’s affection with her unparalleled beauty and cute demeanor.
However, after reading about other customers’ similar experiences with Chizuru, Kazuya believes her warm smile and caring personality are all a ruse to play with his heart, and he rates her poorly. Chizuru, enraged, slams him for his shameless hypocrisy, revealing her true pert and hot-tempered self. This one-sided conversation is cut short when Kazuya learns that his grandmother has passed away.
They rush to the hospital, where they find Kazuya’s grandmother in good condition. She is perplexed by Chizuru’s presence and wonders who this girl is. But, with Kazuya still haunted by his previous relationship with Mami, how long can this difficult client and reluctant rental girlfriend maintain their act?
7. Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends
When Kodaka Hasegawa learns that he will be transferring to a new school, he is determined to make a good impression and possibly make some new friends. However, Kodaka quickly discovers that he is out of luck when he is labeled as a violent delinquent due to his blond hair and intimidating demeanor. Despite the passage of a month, Kodaka remains alone due to his infamous reputation. However, his life begins to change when he discovers fellow loner Yozora Mikazuki in an empty classroom talking to her imaginary friend.
After sharing stories about their lonely high school lives, Kodaka and Yozora decide to start the Neighbor’s Club to overcome the difficulties of making friends together. Daily activities for people who don’t have friends include learning social skills and how to fit in, which will hopefully allow them to make friends. With the help of the eroge-loving Sena Kashiwazaki and other eccentric outcasts, Kodaka may have finally found people he can call friends in this club full of hilarious oddballs.
6. Nisekoi: False Love
Raku Ichijou, a first-year high school student, is the sole heir to an intimidating yakuza family. Raku made a promise to a childhood friend ten years ago. All he has now is a pendant with a lock that can only be opened with the key the girl took with her when they parted.
Raku has matured into a typical adolescent, wanting to remain as uninvolved in his yakuza background as possible while spending his school days with his middle school crush Kosaki Onodera. When the American Bee Hive Gang invades his family’s territory, Raku’s idyllic romantic dreams are thrown out the window as he is dragged into a frustrating conflict: Raku is to pretend to be in a romantic relationship with Chitoge Kirisaki, the beautiful daughter of the Bee Hive’s chief, in order to reduce friction between the two groups. Unfortunately, the reality is far from this blatant lie—Raku and Chitoge fall in love at first sight, as the girl believes he is a pathetic pushover, and Chitoge is about as attractive to Raku as a savage gorilla.
Nisekoi follows the daily antics of this mismatched couple who have been forced to get along in order to keep the peace in the city. With many more girls appearing in his life, all of whom are somehow connected to Raku’s past, his search for the girl who holds his heart and his promise takes him in unexpected directions.

Keima Katsuragi, also known online as the legendary “God of Conquest,” can win any girl’s heart—at least in dating sim games. In reality, he prefers the two-dimensional world of gaming to real life due to his unhealthy obsession with galge games (a type of Japanese video game centered on interactions with attractive girls).
When he arrogantly accepts an anonymous offer to demonstrate his superiority in dating sim games, Keima is duped into assisting a naive and impish demon from hell named Elucia “Elsie” de Lute Ima with her mission: retrieving runaway evil spirits who have escaped from hell and scattered themselves throughout the human world. Keima discovers that the only way to capture these spirits is to conquer what he despises the most: three-dimensional girls’ unpredictable hearts! Keima, shackled to Elsie by a lethal collar, is now forced to navigate through the hearts of a slew of real-life girls, putting his title of “God of Conquest” to the ultimate test.
4. Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs
Yuragi-sou, once a hot springs inn and now a boarding house with ridiculously low rent, is almost deserted except for a few odd residents. According to legend, it is haunted by a vile ghost who scares away all potential tenants. As a result, it is the ideal refuge for Fuyuzora Kogarashi—a broke, homeless psychic looking for a place to stay and ghosts to exorcise.
Kogarashi prepares for a fight with the ghost, only to discover that it is not as evil as the rumors suggest. Instead, it is the ghost of a lovely silver-haired girl whose only memory of life before death is her name: Yuuna. Even more perplexing is the fact that the other tenants of Yuragi-sou not only see Yuuna, but each has their own supernatural ability.
Kogarashi attempts to uncover the regret that keeps Yuuna anchored to the world of the living, lest she becomes an evil spirit sentenced to spend her afterlife in hell, amidst the chaos caused by his eccentric fellow residents.
3. Date A Live
A supermassive “spatial quake”—a phenomenon involving unknown space vibrations—devastated the Eurasian continent thirty years ago, killing over 150 million people. Since then, these quakes have struck the world on an irregular basis, albeit on a smaller scale.
Shidou Itsuka appears to be an ordinary high school student who lives with his younger sister, Kotori. When an impending spatial quake threatens Tengu City’s safety, he rushes to save her, only to be caught in the ensuing eruption. At its source, he discovers a mysterious girl who is revealed to be a “Spirit,” an otherworldly entity whose appearance causes a spatial quake. Soon after, he becomes involved in a battle between the girl and the Anti-Spirit Team, a ruthless strike force dedicated to the annihilation of Spirits.
However, there is a third party who believes in the salvation of the spirits: “Ratatoskr,” which is surprisingly led by Shidou’s younger sister! Following the battle, Kotori forcibly recruits Shidou, offering him an alternative method of dealing with the Spirits’ threat—make them fall in love with him. The fate of the world now rests on his dating prowess, as he seeks out Spirits to charm them.
2. Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend
For years, otaku Tomoya Aki has been obsessed with collecting anime and light novels, becoming attached to various series with captivating stories and characters. Now, he wants to give others the same experience he had by creating his own game, but Tomoya is incapable of doing so on his own.
While directing, he successfully recruits childhood friend Eriri Spencer Sawamura to illustrate and literary elitist Utaha Kasumigaoka to write the script. Tomoya now has a super-group to base his project on, and he meets the beautiful, docile Megumi Katou, who he then models his main character after.
Tomoya creates a new doujin circle with the hope of touching the hearts of those who play their game. What he doesn’t realize is that in order to elicit these emotions, the creators had to go through similar experiences in their own lives.
1. The Quintessential Quintuplets
Fuutarou Uesugi, like most harem anime protagonists, is a reclusive and socially inept young man. That’s almost required for the genre these days. He and his father are also struggling financially. Uesugi, on the other hand, is a little more mature than the other harem protagonists and decided to assist his father by taking a tutoring job for a wealthy family.
Uesugi was initially perplexed about why the wage was five times the going rate. He had no idea he was about to tutor quintuplets, a group of five children born together. Oh, and they’re all cute girls with different attitudes, except they all have the same pink hair, which makes the premise a little strange because they all seem to be various shades of the same person.
