The first trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has been released, showing footage from the “Gojo’s Past Arc.” The anime is set to premiere on July 6.
The first season aired 24 episodes from October 2020 to March 2021. The second season will premiere in July and will cover the “Gojo’s Past Arc” and the “Shibuya Incident Arc” in two parts.
Shouta Goshozono, who directed and storyboarded episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 17, Ranking of Kings Episode 21, Chainsaw Man Episode 8, and others, is notably replacing Season 1’s Sunghoo Park as director (who recently founded E&H production).
The following people work on the MAPPA-produced show:
- Hiroshi Seko is the series’ composer and scriptwriter (returning)
- Tadashi Hiramatsu created the characters (returning)
- Sayaka Koiso is the character designer (Jujutsu Kaisen 0 sub-character designer)
- Ryouta Aikei is the assistant director (Attack on Titan Final Season: The Final Chapters, Special 1 co-storyboard artist and unit director)
- Teppei Itou is the compositing director (returning)
- Eiko Matsushima is the color designer (Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Bullet opening movie)
- Junichi Higashi is the art director (Jujutsu Kaisen 0)
- Terui Yoshimasa composed the music (Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 co-composer)
Meanwhile, the cast includes Anna Nagase as Riko Amanai and Takehito Koyasu as Toji Fushiguro. Yuuichi Nakamuru, Takahiro Sakurai, and Aya Endou are reprising their roles as Satoru Gojo, Geto Suguru, and Shoko Ieri respectively.
Jujutsu Kaisen Synopsis:
Yuuji Itadori, a high school student, spends his days either indulging in baseless paranormal activities with the Occult Club or visiting his bedridden grandfather in the hospital. However, when he unknowingly comes into contact with a cursed item, his leisurely lifestyle takes a strange turn. After swallowing the said item, revealed to be a finger belonging to the demon Sukuna Ryoumen, the “King of Curses,” Yuuji finds himself thrust into the world of Curses—dreadful beings formed from human malice and negativity.
As he discovers his own newfound powers, Yuuji witnesses firsthand the threat that these Curses pose to society. When he is introduced to the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School, he begins to walk down a path that he will never be able to return to—the path of a Jujutsu sorcerer.
