The spring 2024 anime season has just kicked off, and as crazy as the last season was, with highly anticipated anime like Solo Leveling, Classroom of the Elite, and Mashle. The spring 2024 season is going to be even crazier. From returning fan favorites to highly anticipated new ones, this latest anime season has a lot of exciting shows for you to watch. So, here are the Top 12 Most Anticipated Anime of Spring 2024!
1. KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3 (April 10)
‘KonoSuba’, one of the funniest anime series currently running, is a deranged, delightfully mean parody of your typical isekai (a genre of anime that follows people being transported to a fantasy world, usually by courtesy of truck-kun). It is returning for a much anticipated third season this april.
After dying a laughable and pathetic death on his way back from buying a game, Kazuma Satou, a high school student and recluse, finds himself sitting before Aqua, a beautiful but obnoxious goddess. She gives the NEET two options: go to heaven or reincarnate in every gamer’s dream—a true fantasy world! Kazuma chooses to start a new life and is immediately tasked with defeating a Demon King who is terrorizing villages. But before he leaves, he can select one item of any kind to help him on his quest, and the future hero chooses Aqua. But Kazuma has made a grave mistake: Aqua is completely useless!
2. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc (May 12)
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba continues to captivate its fans with its breathtaking animation, fights, and characters. The upcoming season is set to premiere on May 12.
Demon attacks have stopped since Nezuko Kamado’s sunlight immunity was revealed. The Demon Slayer Corps is aware that a new and destructive confrontation is on the horizon, as Muzan Kibutsuji plots to take her away. In the calm before the storm, Kagaya imposes strict training on all of its members, including the Hashira, and Tanjiro uses the arduous process to better himself and learn more about the organization’s most powerful Demon Slayers.
3. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 (April 5)
One of the most popular (and my personal favorite) isekai anime series, ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’ is returning with a third season.
Season 2 of “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” concluded with Rimuru’s triumph over Demon Lord Clayman during Walpurgis, earning him induction into the Octagram as a full-fledged Demon Lord and control over the Great Forest of Jura. Season 3 will start off with Rimuru returning home to Tempest, eager to make a positive impact. However, as he plans a festival to celebrate his newfound status, unseen adversaries plot to undermine him by falsely declaring war on the Holy Empire of Lubelius in Rimuru’s name and stoking anti-monster sentiment within the Empire.
4. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Part 2 (April 7)
Another fan favorite and arguably one of the best isekai anime of all time, Musoku Tensei is returning with part 2 of its second season.
The first half of the second season saw Rudeus and Sylphiette reunite in the final episode, and now it’s time for them to embark on a new adventure together. Don’t miss out on it as it only gets better from here.
5. Kaiju No. 8 (April 13)
‘Godzilla Minus One’ and ‘Godzilla X Kong’ prove the enormous popularity of the kaiju genre. There’s never been a better time for the anime adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s manga ‘Kaiju No. 8,’ a sci-fi action series about a boy who gains the ability to transform into a monster and uses it to defend the world from larger, more violent monsters.
For years, grotesque, Godzilla-like monsters known as “kaijuu” have appeared throughout Japan. To combat these beasts, an elite military unit known as the Defense Corps puts their lives on the line every day to protect civilians. Once a creature is killed, “sweepers” working for the Professional Kaijuu Cleaner Corporation are left to dispose of its remains.
Kafka Hibino, 32, is dissatisfied with his job as a sweeper. He has always wanted to join the Defense Corps and work as a kaijuu hunter. After a few failed attempts, he gave up on his dreams and resigned himself to mediocrity for decent pay. Nonetheless, when an ambitious 18-year-old recruit named Leno Ichikawa joins his cleaning crew, Kafka is reminded of his desire to join the army.
Following a series of unfortunate events and an encounter with the junior sweeper, Kafka is confronted with a parasite-type kaijuu that forces its way into his mouth, transforming him into a human-like monster. With his newfound abilities, Kafka hopes to give his lifelong dream one last shot.
6. Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf (April 1)
Beloved but sadly short-lived, the 2008 anime series ‘Spice and Wolf’ is receiving a much-deserved remake this spring.
In the town of Pasloe, Holo, a once-revered wolf deity, is now relegated to a mere folktale as the villagers become self-sufficient. When a traveling merchant named Kraft Lawrence visits the town, Holo offers to partner with him on his journey to her northern home. With Holo’s keen insights and Lawrence’s business acumen, they embark on a journey filled with economic opportunities. Yet, along the way, Lawrence discovers his aspirations shifting in unforeseen ways.
7. My Hero Academia Season 7 (May 4)
With an even darker theme and epic battles on the way, My Hero Academia’s seventh season will undoubtedly keep fans on the edge of their seats. The upcoming season will focus on the events of The Star and Stripe Arc, the U.A. Traitor Arc, and the Final War Arc. We will meet Star and Stripe, who will join Deku in the fight against Shigaraki.
Like the previous season, season 7 will air for two consecutive cours.
8. Date A Live V (April 10)
The fifth season of Date A Live. Date A Live V returns with familiar faces in both the cast and crew, promising an engaging storyline full of mystery and intrigue. Aya Endō joins as Mio Takamiya, a mysterious young girl with a connection to Shido’s past, adding depth to the story.
Here’s a synopsis for those unfamiliar with Date A Live: Thirty years ago, a devastating phenomenon known as a “Spacequake” wreaked havoc in Eurasia, resulting in the loss of over 150 million lives. Since then, smaller Spacequakes have sporadically plagued the world. Shido Itsuka, an ordinary high school student, encounters a mysterious girl at the epicenter of one such event. He discovers from his sister Kotori that she is one of the “Spirits,” beings responsible for the Spacequakes. Kotori reveals her role as commander of the airship Fraxinus, operated by the organization Ratatoskr, and recruits Shido for his ability to seal the Spirits’ powers. The catch: he must make each Spirit fall in love with him and kiss them to seal their powers and prevent them from posing a threat to humanity.
9. The Misfit of Demon King Academy II Part 2 (April 12)
The second half of The Misfit of Demon King Academy II. Scheduled to premiere on April 12.
In the distant past, a war between humans and demons resulted in widespread chaos and bloodshed. To put an end to this seemingly never-ending conflict, Demon King Anos Voldigoad willingly gave his life, hoping to be reborn in a peaceful future.
In anticipation of their king’s return, the demon race established the Demon King Academy, an elite institution tasked with determining Anos’ identity when he awakens. He reincarnates two millennia later, but to his surprise, he discovers that the level of magic in the world has significantly decreased during his absence. Furthermore, when he enrolls in the academy to reclaim his rightful title, he discovers that demonkind perceives him differently. His personality, actions, and legacy are all fabricated—masked by the name of an impostor. This “lack” of common knowledge makes him the academy’s outlier—a misfit never seen before in history.
10. Go! Go! Loser Ranger! (April 7)
Everyone loves the ‘Power Rangers,’ the multi-colored superheroic protectors of Earth. ‘Go! Go! Loser Ranger’ is a parody of the iconic franchise (technically, the ‘Super Sentai’ franchise from which the American ‘Power Rangers’ is adapted) that follows D, one of the faceless grunts who battles the Rangers-esque Dragon Keeper heroes. When D’s invading alien army is defeated, the grunts are effectively enslaved and forced to fight the Dragon Keepers on a weekly basis in order for the organization to maintain its good standing with the rest of the world.
11. The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3 (April 5)
Magic, once thought to be folklore and fairy tales, has evolved into a systematized technology that is taught as a technical skill in the early twenty-first century. Students at First High School, the institution for magicians, are divided into two groups based on their entrance exam scores: “Blooms,” those with high scores, are assigned to the First Course, while “Weeds” are reserve students assigned to the Second Course.
The Irregular at Magic High School follows the Shiba siblings, Tatsuya and Miyuki, as they attend First High School. After taking the exam, the gifted Miyuki is placed in the First Course, while Tatsuya is demoted to the Second. Though his practical test scores and status as a “Weed” indicate that he is magically inept, Tatsuya possesses extraordinary technical knowledge, physical combat abilities, and unique magic techniques, making him an outlier at a magical high school.
12. Black Butler: Public School Arc (April 13)
After 14 years since the release of its 2nd season, Black Butler is finally getting the continuation that it rightfully deserves.
As the name implies, the upcoming season of Black Butler will bring the events and characters from the manga’s Public School Arc to life. It will take place at the fictional Weston College, which has such strict rules and regulations that even the government is unable to interfere with its affairs.
The series follows Detective Ciel and his ally Sebastian as they navigate school politics and uncover dark secrets within the prestigious school’s premises.
