The Dorohedoro anime adaptation from 2020 is getting a sequel 4 years after the first season was released. The sequel will be available only on streaming services. (the original was broadcast on some Japanese channels as well as on Netflix). No release date has been revealed as of yet.
Dorohedoro is based on Q Hayashida’s violent fantasy manga, which was serialized from 2000 to 2018. Shogakukan has published the title in 23 tankoubon volumes. Viz Media describes it as follows:
In a city so dismal it’s known only as “the Hole,” a clan of Sorcerers has been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious “experiments” in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they’re hunting and killing the Sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they’ll kill the right one. But when En, the head Sorcerer, gets word of a lizard man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of “cleaners” into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds.
Yuuichirou Hayashi, who directed Attack on Titan Final Season, directed the first season of the anime. Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan Final Season) serves as series composer, Tomohiro Kishi (Attack on Titan Final Season) serves as main character designer, and Yuki Nomoto serves as 3DCG director. The animation production company is called MAPPA.
As for the cast, Wataru Takagi played the protagonist Caimon, and Rei Kondou played the main heroine Nikaido. Kenyuu Horiuchi played En, Yoshimasa Hosoya played Shin, and Yuu Hayashi played Noi.
