“DORORO Re:Verse” is a webtoon adaptation of Osamu Tezuka’s “Dororo.” set in Modern Times has begun serialization. The creator ‘The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor’, Lee Do-gyeong is writing and illustrating the story.

The webcomic remake of Osamu Tezuka’s Dororo manga series has been launched by Japanese eBook distributor Media Do, animation studio Tezuka Productions, and South Korean comic publisher Copin Communications.
Dororo Re:Verse’s first 21 chapters are now available on the Japanese Piccoma online manga service and the South Korean KakaoPage webtoon platform. After the webcomic’s serialization in South Korea concludes, plans for a global release in North America, China, and Europe will be revealed.
Dororo Re:Verse is set in modern-day Japan, where youkai and criminals collaborate to further their nefarious goals through the use of a new form of magic known as “science.” Hakki, an immortal being, is looking for parts of his body that were lost hundreds of years ago. By chance, he meets Roro, a young boy who resembles Hakki’s old friend, Dororo.
Dororo Re:Verse Synopsis
Born in the age of the Japanese civil wars, “Hyakkimaru” had his body stolen from him by demons.
He hunts for the demons who have fragments of his body and recovers his body bit by bit.
Having lived till the present day chasing after demons in the city’s shadows, Hyakkimaru is one day seeked out by a child—Roro, a girl who holds a fragment of Hyakkimaru’s body despite not being a demon.
Under a contract with her, Hyakkimaru goes on his final hunt for the remaining demons…
this time, for the sake of becoming a complete human being.
About the Original Manga
The original Dororo manga was published by Shogakukan and Akita Shoten from August 1967 to October 1969. In total, four tankoubon volumes were published. The series spawned a 1969 anime television series and a 2019 anime series available on Amazon Prime. It was also the inspiration for a 2004 video game called Blood Will Tell, as well as a 2007 Japanese live-action film adaptation.
On October 19, 2018, Satoshi Shiki (Daphne in the Brilliant Blue) debuted a Dororo remake manga series in Akita Shoten’s Champion Red magazine. As of February 2022, six tankoubon volumes had been released, as the series entered its final arc in 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment has released the English remake manga.
