A new PV trailer for the upcoming Hero Classroom anime series has been released. The anime production team also revealed the show’s premiere date: to be July 9, 2023. Studio ACTAS is animating the adaptation.
The opening theme song “Bravery?Naturally?” is performed by Kaede Higuchi, and Akane Kumada sings the closing theme song. The opening can be heard in the new trailer:
The staff includes Keiichirou Kawaguchi (Spy Classroom) as director. Naoki Hayashi (Higurashi: When They Cry – Sotsu) is the series screenwriter and scriptwriter. Kousuke Kawamura (Remake Our Life) serves as the character designer and chief animation director. Hideaki Nakano (Servamp: Alice in the Garden) as the assistant director. Yasuhiro Moriki (Date A Live IV ) and Miki Matsuda (Healer Girl ) as monster and mechanical designers, and Koutarou Nakagawa (Fuuto PI) is the music composer.
Meanwhile, the main cast includes:
- Reiji Kawashima as Blade
- Misuzu Yamada as Earnest Flaming
- Hina Kino as Kufurin
- Nao Toyama as Sophie
- Tetsu Inada as Asmodeus
- Konomi Kohara as Eliza
- Emi Sarah Birdcutt as Mao
The anime is based on Shin Araki’s light novel series, which was illustrated by Haruyuki Morisawa. Shuesiha began publishing the series in January 2015, and as of July 2022, there have been 13 volumes published. The light novels are published by Shueisha under the Dash X Bunko imprint.
The series also inspired a manga adaptation by Koara Kishida, which was released in 2016 by Square Enix. Comikey publishes the manga in English digitally and describes the plot as:
Blade is a carefree transfer student whose only goal is to make friends with his classmates at Rosewood Academy, a school for heroes-in-training. On the surface, Blade seems like an ordinary boy, but he is hiding a miserable secret with seeds that start long ago, with the defeat of the Demon King at the hands of the Great Hero. Join this new class of friends as they unravel the mystery surrounding Blade, and journey toward becoming full-fledged Heroes!
