The Kimi ni Todoke – From Me To You anime series is returning for a third season in 2024. The announcement was accompanied by a teaser image of the sequel’s main characters, Sawako Kuronuma and Shota Kazehaya, and the news that the sequel will be a Netflix exclusive.
Karuho Shiina, the creator of the romance manga, also released a commemorative illustration.
Kimi ni Todoke – From Me To You Season 3, like the first season (which had 25 episodes) and the second season (which had 13 episodes), will be produced by Production I.G. Voice actors Mamiko Noto and Daisuke Namikawa are reprising their roles as Sawako and Shota, respectively, while staff details are currently unknown.
Kimi ni Todoke – From Me To You ran in Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret magazine from 2006 to 2017 and ended with 30 tankoubon volumes. The manga is described by Viz Media as follows:
Sawako Kuronuma is the perfect heroine…for a horror movie. With striking similarities to a haunting movie character–jet-black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor–she’s mistakenly called Sadako by those around her. But behind her scary façade is a very misunderstood teenager. Too shy to fit in, all she wants to do is make some friends. But when the most popular boy in class befriends her, she’s sure to make more than just that–she’s about to make some enemies too!
The manga has inspired a spin-off, Unmei no Hito, which ran from 2018 to 2022 and was collected into three tankoubon volumes. It also sparked a live-action film in 2010.
Netflix has also released a live-action drama adaptation of the manga (titled From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke) earlier this year.
