The first full trailer for the upcoming Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! spin-off has arrived, focusing on a pivotal moment in protagonist Megumin’s youth.
The Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! light novel series had three volumes and ran from 2014 to 2015. A sequel series began in 2016 and its second volume was released in 2019.
The Trailer
Yuujiro Abe (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 1 and Season 2 episode director) is in charge of the anime, with KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! director Kanasaki Takaomi serves as chief supervisor. Other returning names from previous KonoSuba anime include character designer Kouichi Kikuta and series composer Makoto Uezu. The show is produced by Drive.
Rie Takahashi as Megumin and Aki Toyosaki as Yunyun reprise their roles in the spin-off.
Natsume Akatsuki wrote and Kurone Mishima illustrated Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!, which ran from 2013 to 2020 with 17 main volumes and two short story anthologies. It is published by Kadokawa under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label. Kasumi Morino adapted the manga for the spin-off and its sequel.
Yen Press describes the light novel as:
One year before a certain useless goddess and NEET extraordinaire hit the scene, Megumin, the “Greatest Genius of the Crimson Magic Clan,” is hard at work. Ever since a life-changing encounter in her youth, the young wizard has dedicated her every waking moment to the pursuit of the ultimate offensive magic, Explosion!
