The Mashle: Magic and Muscles TV anime production team has announced that a second season will premiere in January 2024. The 12-part series debuted on April 8, 2023, and will conclude on July 1, 2023.
A new trailer has also been released, confirming the second season and recapping season one. The first season is currently available on Crunchyroll.
The anime’s main production team includes director Tomoya Tanaka (Engage Kiss), series screenwriter and script writer Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia), character designer Hisashi Toujima (Blue Lock chief action director), and music composer Masaru Yokoyama (Urusei Yatsura). A-1 Pictures is in charge of the series’ animation production.
Saki Hisamatsu (Love Live! Superstar!! Season 2 dance part animation director) and Gotou Nozomi (Love Live! Superstar!! Season 2 dance part animation director) serve as sub-character designers and action directors Takeshi Matsuda (Record of Grancrest War co-main animator) and Hiroaki Gouda (Amagami SS character designer) work together.
Meanwhile, Chiaki Kobayashi played Mash Burnedead, Reiji Kawashima played Finn Ames, Kaito Ishikawa played Lance Crown, Takuya Eguchi played Dot Barrett, and Reina Ueda played Lemon Irvine. Yuuki Kaji as Raine, Yuuichirou Umehara as Abel, and Hiroki Nanami as Abyss round out the voice cast.
Viz Media releases the Mashle: Magic and Muscles manga in English and describes the synopsis as:
Mash just wants to live in peace with his father in the forest. But the only way he’ll ever be accepted in the magic realm is by attending magic school and becoming a Divine Visionary—an exceptional student revered as the chosen one. But without an ounce of magic to his name, Mash will have to punch his way to the top spot.
The anime is based on Hajime Komoto’s manga series, which debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on January 27, 2020, under the Jump Comics label. As of April 2023, sixteen tankoubon volumes had been released, with a 17th volume set to be released on July 4, 2023.
