Miru, a new original anime about “confrontation and harmony between humans and nature,” is set to be released in 2024. On the anime’s website, a key visual featuring a girl and a robot was revealed.
According to the anime’s website, the main character will face “challenges and personal growth, while striving to preserve the environment required for our existence, while the presence of robots will be depicted alongside their journey.” According to YANMAR, the title combines “the character for ‘future’ (Mi) with the Japanese character ‘Ru’ to indicate positive action and initiative in creating the future.”
Miru was first announced last November as YANMAR Project Socius by YANMAR Holdings, a Japanese manufacturer of agricultural machinery, industrial engines, and other equipment. The anime’s original robot designs are credited to YANMAR’s design office, which typically designs agricultural and construction machinery.
Yuu Iguchi is credited as the concept artist for the robots, while YKBX is credited as the key visual’s art director, illustrator, and character designer. Shigeru Morita (D_Cide Traumerei the Animation) of Studio Nue is the scenario writer.
Furthermore, Miru will be in attendance at the upcoming Anime Expo 2023 in July. At the Los Angeles Convention Center’s South Hall Lobby Space, there will be a “dynamic booth” with a giant robot model, as well as a panel with YANMAR’s Chief Branding Officer Akihiro Nagaya in Room 511. YKBX will perform a live drawing session during the panel.
According to YANMAR, the anime is part of the company’s efforts to reach a global audience. “Furthermore, we hope to improve understanding of sustainability efforts by incorporating the globally shared goal of achieving a sustainable society into the anime’s story,” it continued.
