Psycho-Pass Providence, a new Psycho-Pass anime film, has been unveiled with a teaser visual.
A 10th-anniversary trailer for Psycho-Pass was also released, with the slogan “NEXT PROJECT 2022.10 START.”
The anniversary project was announced in July, with the announcement post stating that a special live stream will be held on August 14 and that the project would begin in October. During the broadcast, Psycho-Pass Providence was first introduced.
The 22-episode season of the Production I.G-produced cyberpunk thriller series began in 2012 with Katsuyuki Motohiro as chief director, Naoyoshi Shiotani as director, Gen Urobochi as story draught writer, manga artist Akira Amano as original character designer, Kyouji Asano as character designer, and Takahiro Chiba as sub-character designer.
The first season of Psycho-Pass was followed by several subsequent seasons and films. Shiotani directed the 2020 film Psycho-Pass 3: First Inspector, which also featured Tow Ubukata as series composer and one of the scriptwriters, and Naoyuki Onda as character designer. Manga, light novels, and an ADV game have all been inspired by the anime.
Crunchyroll describes the first season as:
In the future, thinking about a crime makes you guilty, and justice is dispensed from the barrel of a gun. Detectives work in teams made up of Enforcers and Inspectors. Enforcers take out the bad guys, and Inspectors make sure their partners don’t cross the line. The equalizer in the war on thugs is the Dominator, a weapon that can tell when citizens are about to turn criminal.
