With the return of Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan in Q1, the dominance of Spy x Family in Q2, and the upcoming Chainsaw Man series in Q3, 2022 has already been an exceptional year for anime fans; the latter is certain to break the internet when it premieres in the Fall.

However, one character is missing from the modern anime world: Jin-Woo, the main protagonist of the popular Webtoon series ‘Solo Leveling,’ who has yet to make his anime debut.

Following months of speculation on the internet, it has finally been confirmed that Solo Leveling will receive its own anime adaptation – here’s everything you need to know.

Just a couple of hours ago, at the Crunchyroll Panel at AnimeExpo, An anime adaptation for Solo Leveling was announced and said to be under production. The first trailer was subsequently shared on YouTube by Crunchyroll. If you haven’t watched the trailer yet, you can watch it below:

A-Pictures, the Tokyo-based studio which has helmed the likes of Black Butler, Blue Exorcist, Sword Art Online, The Seven Deadly Sins, Kaguya-sama: Love is War and 86 Eighty-Six amongst many others will be animating the series.

Shunsuke Nakashige (Sword Art Online) will be directing the series, the series composition is Noburu Kimura (Mai-HiME), character design by Tomoko Sudo (The Seven Deadly Sins) and music will be composed by Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan).

Solo Leveling Anime Will Release in 2023

According to the anime adaptation announcement and reveal trailer, Solo Leveling will premiere on TV in 2023.

Crunchyroll will be simulcasting the series in America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.

Unfortunately, no specific release date has been provided. However, we do know that pre-production began at least several months ago.

New anime adaptations typically take between 7 and 13 months to premiere domestically in Japan after an official reveal. Assuming that Solo Leveling will be on the latter end of that prediction, due to the high fidelity to the animation required to adapt the Webtoon properly, this would put a potential premiere window as early as July 2023.

Although a more realistic expectation would be for October 2023 as part of the Fall slate as the standards are already set so high.

Here’s the Official Twitter Announcement by Crunchyroll:
