The supernatural romantic comedy “Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru” (Stupid Angel Dances With the Devil) is scheduled to make its debut on Japanese television in January 2024. Alongside this announcement, the production has revealed a trailer, the main visual, and information about the theme songs.
The opening theme, “Otowa,” will be performed by Taiyou to Odore Tsukiyo ni Utae, while the closing theme, “Gift,” will be sung by Kaori Ishihara.
The cast for the anime includes Yuuma Uchida as Masatora, Ayane Sakura as Lily, Shuuichirou Umeda as Yuya Tanigawa, Shunichi Toki as Kensaku Hirota, Nao Toyama as Yuka Tanahashi, and Rie Kugimiya as Liz.
Meanwhile, the staff includes Itsurou Kawasaki (The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting director) as Director and series composer, Yuuko Yahiro (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) as character designer, and Takurou Iga (OSHI NO KO) as Music composer. Children’s Playground Entertainment is behind the animation production with assistance from GAINA.
Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru is based on Sawayoshi Azuma’s KADOKAWA-published manga, which debuted in Dengeki Maou in 2016 and has 15 tankoubon volumes as of April 2023.
The premise of the “wicked romantic comedy” involves the demon Masatora Akutsu visiting Earth in search of a human who can serve as an idol for the demons in order to motivate them. He invites Lily Amane, but quickly discovers that she is a literal angel. Masatora is forced to assist Lily on her mission after being captured by her.
