During a special panel at Anime Expo 2023, Warner Bros. Japan announced that Suicide Squad ISEKAI, an all-new original anime series based on DC Comics characters, is currently in production. Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio, which will handle the series’ animation production, both confirmed the project. Fans can also take part in a poll about the upcoming original anime.
A trailer and a teaser visual illustrated by Akira Amano (REBORN!, ēlDLIVE) was also released. Amano is credited with creating the anime’s original character designs.
Suicide Squad ISEKAI’s staff include Eri Osada (The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat character designer) as Director, with screenplays by novelists Tappei Nagatsuki (Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World author) and Eiji Umehara (Vivy – Fluorite Eye’s Song). The anime character designer is Naoto Hosoda (Magatsu Wahrheit Zuerstis director and series screenwriter), and the music composer is Kenichirou Suehiro (Golden Kamuy).
Amano was excited to be a part of the project, saying:
I’m a big fan of Harley Quinn and the other characters in the “Suicide Squad” movie! It’s an honor for me to be involved in the creation of “Suicide Squad ISEKAI.” The director Eri Osada’s clear vision for Harley’s design made the process smoother than expected, and I enjoyed drawing her costume and muscles while imagining her action-packed adventures in the story. I’m excited to see how the talented animation staff brings ” Suicide Squad ISEKAI” to life!
Nagatsuki expressed his enthusiasm for the anime as well, saying:
Suicide Squad ISEKAI has finally been announced. ISEKAI! The Suicide Squad! Who would have thought to combine these two!? But this is sure to be a dream project. Crazy villains go on a rampage in ISEKAI! It’s nothing more, nothing less, and it can’t be anything else!

I am honored to be involved in a work with such a boyish and straightforward idea. I drew a variety of villains with one goal in mind; to make Harley look cute! I hope you will join me in enjoying and enlivening this World.
