The Eminence in Shadow anime adaptation is getting a second season. The new season was announced on a live stream event commemorating the broadcast of the final episode of the first season.
A brief trailer teasing the Lawless City and its three monarchs, as well as an atmospheric teaser visual for The Eminence in Shadow Season 2, were also revealed.
It was also revealed that The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden mobile game will have a Rose of Garden event that will tie in with the light novels. The event, which will include a limited-time story as well as rewards, will begin on February 23. A Rose of Garden trailer was released, showing Lambda and Rose Oriana (in her Shadow Garden costume).
The first season of The Eminence in Shadow premiered on October 5, 2022, and lasted 20 episodes. The anime is based on Daisuke Aizawa’s isekai light novel series, which began in 2018 and has five volumes as of December 2022 and is published by Kadokawa.
The light novels, published by Enterbrain, inspired a manga series by Anri Sakano and a manga spin-off by Seta U.
The Eminence in Shadow Synopsis:
Minoru Kagenou has been obsessed with becoming as strong as possible for as long as he can remember, which has led him to engage in all manner of rigorous training. This wish, however, is not motivated by a desire to be noticed by others; rather, Minoru does everything in his power to blend in with the crowd. So, during the day, he pretends to be a completely normal student, but at night, he arm himself with a crowbar and ruthlessly thrashes local biker gangs. Minoru’s ambitions appear to be dashed when he is involved in a truck accident. In his final moments, he bemoans his powerlessness—no matter how hard he trained, he couldn’t overcome his human limitations.
Instead of dying, Minoru reawakens in another world as Cid, the second child of the noble Kagenou family, in a world where magic is commonplace. With the power he craved finally at his disposal, he adopts the moniker “Shadow” and establishes Shadow Garden: a group whose sole purpose is to combat the enigmatic Cult of Diablos, an organization created entirely in Cid’s imagination. However, as Shadow Garden grows in size and influence, it becomes clear that the Cult of Diablos is not as fictitious as Cid had intended.
