Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-‘s second season has received a teaser trailer and visual, as well as a January 2024 premiere date. The TV anime will have two consecutive cours.
Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- Season 2 is being produced by J.C.Staff instead of C2C. Director Shinji Ishikawa, series composer Kenta Ihara, character designer Yukie Suzuki, and music composer Yasuharu Takanashi are all returning to their staff roles.
The returning cast includes Hanae Natsuki as Makoto Misumi, Ayane Sakura as Tomoe, Akari Kitou as Mio, and Kenjirou Tsuda as Shiki.
The show’s first season, consisting of 12 episodes, premiered in 2021. Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:
Makoto Misumi was just an average teenager who suddenly was summoned to another world as a “hero.” But the goddess of this world called him ugly and took his hero status away from him, then sent him to the ends of the world. He meets dragons, spiders, orcs, dwarves, and many other non-human races in the wastelands. Makoto manages to show promise in the use of magic and fighting, which he wouldn’t have been able to do in his former world. He has numerous encounters, but will he be able to survive this new world? A fantasy where a guy who gods and humanity had abandoned tries to reset his life in this new world is about to begin!
The anime was inspired by the AlphaPolis-published Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- light novels, which began publication in 2013 and have 19 volumes (including a side story volume) as of August 2022. Kei Azumi wrote the story and Mitsuaki Matsumoto illustrated it.
Kotora Kino’s manga Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- was also inspired by Tsukimichi. The story began as a web novel called Shousetsuka ni Narou.
