The Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss, But I’m Not the Demon Lord anime adaptation has received a promotional video and key visual. A January 2024 premiere date and details on the main staff and cast were also revealed.
Minoru Yamaoka (Zo Zo Zo Zombie-kun, Wakako-zake) is directing the anime with Fumihiko Shimo (Date A Live IV) as series composer and Kana Utatane (Akebi’s Sailor Uniform) as music composer. Hitomi Kaiho (Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Ep 1 and 2 co-chief animation director) and Lo Ho Kim (Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer Ep 1 co-chief animation director) are the character designers.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Fairouz Ai as Yumiella Dolkness, Yuuma Uchida as Patrick Ashbatten, Azumi Waki as Alicia Ehnleit, Taku Yashiro as Edwin Valschein, Haruki Ishiya as William Ares, and Kouhei Amasaki as Oswald Grimsarde.
Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss, But I’m Not the Demon Lord is based on Satori Tanabada’s light novel series, which began in May 2019 and has five volumes as of June 2022. The books are released under the Kadokawa Books imprint.

Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss, But I’m Not the Demon Lord debuted in June 2018 as a Shousetsuka ni Narou web novel. Nokomi’s manga adaptation of the light novel series was inspired by the series.
